Losing weight is easy if you know what to do. To easily lose weight, you need to avoid these habits:
Being Less Conscious
If you want to lose weight you need to be conscious of what you eat. This means that you should have the nutritional information of any food that you eat. This calls for you to keep track of the calories, carbohydrates, fiber, sodium content, and sugar in the food that you eat.
Eating On Giant Plates
Research has shown that eating behaviors often rely on visual cues such as the size of the plate that you eat on. This means that if you eat on big plates, you will most likely eat a lot of food. For you to lose weight, you should avoid eating on large plates.
Being a Late-Night Monster
It has been shown that people tend to eat a lot of unhealthy foods when they eat late in the night. One of the reasons why people do this is if they have had long hours in the office. Football lovers also have the habit of eating late in the night when they are watching their favorite team play.
It’s recommended that you avoid eating late; however, if you can’t avoid doing so, you should ensure that you eat healthy food. The best way of doing this is by stocking your fridge with healthy foods.
Shopping Without a List
Spontaneous shopping is a clear way of sabotaging your weight loss efforts. When shopping, you should take the shopping list as your weapon against weight gain.
Here you should do your research and write down the healthy foods that you should buy from the store. When shopping you should religiously follow the list. To ensure that you have ample time to buy what is right, you should do your shopping during weekends.
Getting Little Sleep
Lack of sleep is a major contributor of weight gain; therefore, you should make every effort to get enough sleep for you to lose weight. Enough sleep decreases the levels of ghrelin (a hunger hormone) and Leptin which is a satiety hormone.
A decrease in these hormones ensures that you eat less and as a result you easily lose weight. To maintain the hormones in their normal levels, you need to sleep an average of seven or eight hours a day.
Not Using the Scale of Weight Regularly
If you have been giving your scale a cold shoulder you need to know that you are setting yourself for disaster. Research studies have shown that weighing yourself regularly easily results to weight loss.
This is because it motivates you to keep on doing the right things so that you can weigh less the next time you step on the scale. The best way of going about it is weighing yourself once a week. It will also be of no harm if you weigh yourself every day.
If you step on the scale and you find that you are weighing more than you did the last time, you should not let that affect your efforts or self esteem—you should work hard and continue doing the right things.
I’ve noticed that when I shop without a list I always end up with more junk food. I do much better when I have healthy meals planned in advance and only buy what is on my list.
I like the suggestion about smaller plates too. I’ll have to try that out.
